What inspires you to write?
Since I was very young, I have loved books and stories. My mother read stories to me and was a wonderful storyteller, when it was time to come up with something to frighten my friends at Halloween, or create something for school. I write to share all the stories inside me, and I write to problem solve. I write to bring joy to people, who don't know how good they have it, and maybe help them to think about things they can't talk about to anyone else. I want to inspire.

Who is your favorite author?

It's interesting to ask myself that question. I don't know the answer. I am the Chief Editor at Gypsy Shadow Publishing, and I like so much of what our authors have written. I love the spirit of the writer. The one that causes poets to suffer for others, and to love more deeply. The one that causes the words on the paper to take on a life of their own, and create whole worlds for us. I love Tolkien's Middle Earth, Andre Dumas' France, the worlds of Dr. Seuss, and Maurice Sendak.

Did you enjoy reading as a child?

Yes! At one point, when I ran out of books others suggested to me, I decided to just begin with the A authors and work my way through, and begin at the zeros in nonfiction and learn something about everything. I still know my way around in nonfiction, and I still just randomly walk into the YA, youth, or adult section and pick out a few books. I read the ceral box. Really!

How important is a book cover?

It's very important. It's the first and only impression some readers get of your book. If you can't grab them with the picture, they may never read the words inside. We don't want to get the white pages dirty, and in this day and age of electronic pages, the book cover is really the front door of the book.

Do you have current work in progress?
Always. I have a fantasy series in the works, and several additions to 'The Fire Series.'
